Our mission is to ensure high academic achievement for all children, especially students in poverty and students of color, by developing transformational school leaders and advancing the policies and practices that allow great leaders to succeed.

 

In 2001, New Leaders launched its flagship Aspiring Principals program with a small cohort of 14 participants. Since then, we’ve prepared nearly 2,400 outstanding education leaders who reach 450,000 students in more than 20 cities nationwide.

New Leaders is actively recruiting to fill 2017-2018 cohorts for the following three professional development training programs.

 

Leading Instruction equips current and aspiring leaders with instructional expertise aligned to rising standards, using job-embedded training that prepares them to elevate achievement in their schools.

  • Credential Types: Valid California Teaching Credential and a minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience

  • Program Structure: Rolling deadline until cohort is filled

  • Class Structure: Monthly in-person sessions in Oakland office; web-based assignments; personalized coaching at school sites. Full cohort is approx. 35 teachers

  • Cost and Duration: No cost to participants that are accepted

  • Other Information: Interested candidates are encouraged to apply early- space is limited to full cohort size

 

Emerging Leaders provides on-the-job training that prepares teacher leaders, coaches, and assistant principals to boost achievement across the classrooms they supervise—starting during the training year.

  • Credential Types: Valid California Teaching Credential and a minimum of 4 years of classroom teaching experience

  • Program Structure: Rolling deadline until cohort is filled

  • Class Structure: Monthly in-person sessions in Oakland office; web-based assignments; personalized coaching at school sites. Full cohort is approx. 35 teachers

  • Cost and Duration: No cost to participants that are accepted

  • Other Information: Interested candidates are encouraged to apply early- space is limited to full cohort size

 

Aspiring Principals prepares tomorrow’s principals to deliver breakthrough results, equipping them to build schools where teachers grow and students excel.

  • Credential Types: Valid California Preliminary Administrative Credential and a minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience

  • Program Structure: Rolling deadline until cohort is filled

  • Class Structure: Monthly in-person sessions in Oakland office; web-based assignments; personalized coaching at school sites. Full cohort is approx. 10-15 teachers

  • Cost and Duration: No cost to participants that are accepted

  • Other Information: Interested candidates are encouraged to apply early- space is limited to full cohort size
